This cultivar is a much darker green than most weeping green maples It has lacy foliage, growing with very pendulous branches.
The foliage is yellow-green when it first appears in the spring. Foliage darkening by mid-summer, and then unexpectedly turning a bright burgundy red in the autumn.
Prefers cool, deep, light, moist soil. Would benefit from mulching and adequate summer watering. Shelter from drying summer heat and wind. May benefit from light pruning in winter. Suitable for containers.
